Riser Management System (RMS)

Riser Management Systems improve safety and efficiency for drilling and intervention risers.

Riser Management Systems (RMS) are becoming standard for new-build drilling vessels, and will likely become mandatory for all deep water drilling in the future.
Converteam has selected the BPP-RMS for installation on the Odebrecht drilling vessels operating on Petrobras offshore assets.

BPP-RMS provides the following benefits to the operator:

  • Comprehensive real-time riser stress analysis
  • Assess condition of drilling and intervention risers
  • Take informed actions to improve operability, safety, and riser life
  • Improved reliability under uncertain behaviour e.g. VIV
  • Enabling operations in uncertain environments e.g. loop and eddy currents
  • Monitoring during deployment & operations
  • Fatigue tracking and management of joints
  • Transit performance of suspended risers

The conventional approach to determine safe riser operation has been to conduct analysis prior to drilling operations. The limits necessarily set by this conservative analysis will result in reduced operational time, leading to greater costs & lower revenue.

The BPP-RMS uses a sophisticated 3D model that enables the operator to monitor the response of the system in near real-time. This allows more reliable limits to be set, resulting in improved operability that will reduce costs & increasing revenue.

The Riser Management System is available as a integrated package on a new build. It can also be configured for retro-fitting on existing drilling vessels.
